And I know exactly what it’s like to come home from work frazzled and feeling unsure of how we’ll make it to bedtime.
In fact, I started using these low-prep activities to entertain my kids not because I am a Pinterest mom who always has something planned–much the opposite. I was desperate to feel like I had activities to connect with my kids or keep them occupied without always turning on the tv or giving them a tablet.
I learned about low-prep activities when I was about to go on maternity leave for my second daughter, Maddie. I knew that I’d be home without help trying to figure out our new and crazy life with two, so I sat down and made a list of 15 activities that I could buy only a few things for and would keep Olivia active and occupied while I was tending to our new baby.
This research and philosophy has translated into my working life just as well. I now know how having a few easily accessible supplies and a list of activities to use them for can do the same thing that a screen can, and I’ll lose the mom guilt knowing I’ve made this happen!

No, if you don’t have a printer you can print these at a local print shop or through an online print company. We’ve had success printing at Staples and Office Depot, but there are more economical options available online that will ship to your house.

It’s so many activities! I’d recommend reading through them all and then starting with activities where you have all the supplies on hand–and that will be a lot of them!
Look for a course coming soon on ways to prep your month so you never have to spend time thinking about what activity works best and what you have the supplies for in the middle of the week!
You could probably find some activities for free on Pinterest, but it would take you a lot of time to find this many (and you’d have to sort through a lot of ads and articles).
